Influenza Vaccination
Not many people know that real flu, or Influenza as it is known, may become a severe illness. A real case of Influenza is a matter to be taken seriously. Symptoms of Influenza can include fever, headache, extreme tiredness, dry cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle aches, and stomach symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.
Influenza can cause 3 to 4 days of illness, followed by weeks of fatigue and feeling under the weather, the need to take time off work, severe interference in everyday life, and medical complications for those suffering from asthma and other serious conditions.
In the workplace, Influenza can thrive as the virus is easily transmitted from person to person in close proximity. Getting the flu can prove to be a costly exercise for both the employer and employee with specific costs like loss of productivity, absenteeism from the workplace, visits to physicians and medical treatment. Vaccination against Influenza can prevent this.
As an initiative to promote good health in our community, Australian Workforce Assessors conduct yearly workplace immunisation programmes, both on site and at our consulting rooms for vaccination against Influenza.
